Established in 1960, the University of Kalyani is one of the leading state-aided public universities in eastern India, recognized for its excellence in higher education, research and innovation. Located on a sprawling, green campus in the planned township of Kalyani, West Bengal, the University has evolved into a comprehensive affiliating institution with 62 affiliated colleges across the districts of Nadia and Murshidabad. Established in 1961, the Department of Economics is one of the distinguished departments of the University of Kalyani. For over six decades, the Department has maintained a tradition of excellence in teaching, research and policy engagement, combining rigorous theoretical foundations with cutting-edge empirical inquiry. It offers postgraduate and doctoral programmes with a curriculum aligned to contemporary developments in Economics and the National Education Policy (NEP 2020). The Department nurtures a vibrant research environment through faculty publications in reputed national and international journals, doctoral research, seminars, workshops and international conferences that promote intellectual exchange among academics, researchers and policymakers. Its alumni have distinguished themselves in leading universities, research institutes, government, international organizations, financial institutions and the civil services. The Journal of Inclusive Development is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal published by the Department of Economics at the University of Kalyani. It is dedicated to advancing scholarly knowledge and fostering rigorous dialogue on the theory, practice, and policy of inclusive development across diverse socio-economic and institutional contexts worldwide.
